On Tuesday November 3 The Alford Land Trust became the owner of Elizabeth’s Woods on North Egremont Road!
In collaboration with Massachusetts Department of Fisheries & Wildlife (the conservation restriction holder) the Alford Land Trust is honored to be the new steward of this land.
We will add a parking area, a kiosk, map and mark some of the trails and develop a stewardship management plan. Our goal is to enhance opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, for nature study, for wildlife habitat improvement, and to sustain this outstanding working forest.
The people of Alford (and many others) will benefit from this unique asset for years to come.
Thanks to the Riggs family for their below market sale to the Land Trust, to the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife for purchasing the Conservation Restriction and to over 90 families in Alford, all of whom contributed to make this park a reality.
