The public is invited to attend the Alford Land Trust’s annual meeting on Sunday, October 25 at 2 pm at the Alford Town Hall. The topic will be restoring native habitats in Alford.
One of the Alford Land Trust’s management goals for all their properties is to maintain a healthy habitat for wildlife. This year we were honored to receive a grant from Mass Wildlife to improve habitat in Elizabeth’s Wood
Preserve.
Jess Toro, principle of Native Habitat Restorations, will speak about this project, and how to manage invasive plants in our own backyards for the benefit of wildlife. Following the presentation, there will be a walk with refreshments in Elizabeth’s Woods to see the results of our restoration project.
Left untreated, nonnative invasive plants like multiflora rose, euonymus or privet will force out native plants necessary for healthy habitat regeneration.
